Damnit. Been sitting here going, "That's all fine and good but I ACTUALLY hate it and am only doing it because I need things that fit my specific needs for directing." But now I'm sitting here listening to music finally done putting off re-breaking this short and every point of my new outline I'm like "that's dope!" - Note: It's not dope. Still needs lot's of work but it's hard to deny that I am enjoying it. Damnit.

As validating as it can be to hear that even the most experienced writers keep facing the same hurdles, no matter how successful they are, after a while it can become discouraging if that's all we hear. If writing is only pain, why do it? But also, am I doing it wrong if I'm enjoying myself? Does it mean I'm Dunning–Krugering it?

Similar to your tingle-seeking approach, I just watched an old-ish writers' roundtable where Jordan Peele talks about his mantra, "follow the fun," and when he answers so confidently that writing is "very fun," and Emiliy V. Gordon's echoes "it's super fun," I felt some relief.

Thanks for this newsletter - you might not have found the exciting part of writing it yet, but it sure is fun to read!
