I know I’ve been complaining about how much work writing and producing this past weekend’s Thrilling Adventure Hour was, and I’m mortified to admit that it was all worth it. This show was incredibly fun. Acker and I got to showrun, as well as write new material, and we loved getting scripts from our pals J. Holtham (Handmaid’s Tale), Liz Hara (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur), and Katie Wood (whom I met 100 years ago via twitter, when she was posting the funniest responses to “Hashtag Wars”).
Our regular cast is made up of all-stars including Paul F. Tompkins, Paget Brewster, Busy Philipps, and more. They always deliver. And our all-star guests brought the goods. We were so lucky to have Kevin Pollak (Mrs. Maisel), Colton Dunn (Superstore), Olivia Welch (Fear Street trilogy), Ashley Nicole Black (A Black Lady Sketch Show), Richard Kind (Inside Out and also everything), Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men, sure, but Sixteen Candles!)
Anyway, I don’t always feel this way, but I’m really proud of these two shows we put on. You can watch them on demand until July 9th here.
“Love Ain’t No Billy Goat” is a silly song written by our friend Jonathan Coulton for a stage show that Acker and I put on years ago. It’s just ridiculously catchy and fun. We use it to end every Thrilling Adventure Hour show now.
