New Writers Panel pod is up!
First, my pal John Ross Bowie (The Big Bang Theory; Speechless) talks about his new memoir, No Job For a Man. Unsurprisingly, John is incredibly considerate about his experiences as an actor, a punk musician, a writer, husband, son, and father. It’s a great, inspiring read for any creative person.
By the way, in case you missed it (and many, many did), John and I did a podcast together last year called Household Faces, in which he brilliantly interviews great character actors. There are some incredible chats in here. I especially recommend starting with the Alfred Molina, Alex Désert, or Suzy Nakamura episodes. But you know what? They’re all really good.
Then I chat with author Chuck Wendig, whom I’ve followed for years for his writing advice and terrific takes on both the publishing and TV/film industries. Chuck has a new book out called Wayward, a sequel to his previous Wanderers. We have a great. craft-heavy conversation about how he never meant to write a sequel, his work habits, getting into “the zone,” and lots more.

Saturday is our next paid-sub exclusive Q&A with House of the Dragons co-creator and showrunner Ryan Condal! I need you to attend because I don’t watch the show, but I like Ryan a lot, so I need him to get some great questions. Subscribers will also get access to previous Q&As (like last month’s with Robert Cargill) and all future ones too! We had a really good time at the last one. It felt like hanging out at a bar with a smart, experienced, accomplished writer who wants to tell you all of the secrets of the business and craft of TV and movies.
